PHOTO CONTEST Do you have any great photos of your Blondes? Do you enjoy taking photos? This is your chance to grab your camera and capture that perfect pose. The Canadian Blonde d’Aquitaine Association is hoping to build a library of pictures that can be used on the website and in upcoming newsletters. What a great way to expose our Blonde cattle to the world! Each month one eligible winning photograph will be selected by our webmaster, and the winner will receive a $25.00 credit towards their next fullblood or purebred registration. PHOTO CRITERIA Include a complete shot of animal in photo (including feet, tail and full head if possible) Limit of five pictures submitted per operation per calendar month All photos submitted become the property of the Canadian Blonde d’Aquitaine Association and the Association will be able to use them accordingly (photo credit will be provided when possible) E-mail or mail your photos to the Blonde d’Aquitaine office Canadian Blonde d’Aquitaine Association c/o Canadian Livestock Records Corporation 2417 Holly Lane, Ottawa, Ontario K1V 0M7 E-Mail: cbda@clrc.ca The decision of the webmaster is final. The Canadian Blonde d’Aquitaine Board reserves the right to not have a winner if it is deemed no picture is eligible in a particular month. Remember, for a chance to win a $25.00 registration credit and see your photo on the Blonde website, take your camera the next time you go to check on the fences! PHOTO TIPS Don’t cut off the head, feet, butt, nose! Don’t crop your photo -- let your ad designer or webmaster crop the picture to give the best possible design for each individual situation. When you think you have the picture just right, take two steps back. Give your designer lots to work with. Remember to identify your photographer or include a brief description of the shot. You don’t get a second chance to make a first impression. Make sure you take those pictures at a high enough resolution so your printer doesn’t have any trouble getting them ready for your next brochure or magazine ad. How to Win the Canadian Blondes Photo Contest - More tips for you to review ABOUT YOUR PHOTO CONTEST JUDGE Kathleen Windsor has been designing websites since 1996 and has designed and maintained the Canadian Association’s website since 1999. Her background is in marketing and promotion, and she was named Canada’s Sport Editor in 1985 as editor of Bowbender Magazine. For those who have been in the industry for a while, you might remember Kathleen’s father, Lloyd Pickard, a great promoter of cattle in Canada, and a showman second to none. Kathleen knows both the print and internet requirements for photographs. She and her husband, Bill, dispersed their Gelbvieh herd in 2008 and continue to operate Windsor Graphics on their farm east of Didsbury, Alberta.			Click the winning photos to see enlargements. FALL 2009 WINNER! Myrna Flesch of Stavely, Alberta took this calf picture. Not only does the picture have great conformation, but so does the calf! The beauty of this shot is that the designer can keep the cow in if that works best for the ad, or crop the cow out. Lots of grass and sky makes for the type of photo an ad designer has lots to work with. SPRING 2009 WINNER! Eric Doran of Tweed, Ontario took this cow and calf picture, High Point Melissa and her calf. Shows the udder and conformation of both the cow & her calf. FALL 2007 WINNER! Ann Musgrove of KAM Blondes, Charlie Lake, BC. What a great example of a Blonde bull! SPRING 2007 WINNER! Bill Van Bakel of Van Bakel Blondes, Dublin, Ontario. One of the nice things about this particular photo is that it gives the printer lots of room to be creative. WINTER 2006 WINNER! Ilse Vink of Halcyon Farms, Wooler, Ontario. This shot of son Ian was taken at the 2006 Roseneath Fair. FALL 2006 WINNER! John & Ilsa Vink of Halcyon Farms, Wooler, Ontario. "Mindi’s calf" was just 2 wks old when the picture was taken.
